A rare Game Counter or Norfolk Liar, used for counting numbers of shot game. Graduated with four clicker dials; one each for hares, rabbits, pheasants and partridges. Brass face on one side, nickel silver on the other - unpolished, as found.
These pocket Game Counters were used to keep tally of shot game, and give bragging rights amongst shooters - and no doubt one or two extra clicks were made hence the nickname ‘Norfolk Liar’!
Likely to have been made by James Dixon & Son of Sheffield for export, retailers brand G⚓️R on one side.
