Fine and rare Bussey Patent Gyro Pigeon Launcher and targets. Invented by Yorkshireman George Bussey of 36-38 Queen Victoria Road, Peckham, London in 1872. These fascinating items were brought in to replace glass ball targets and live pigeon shoots. These are the precursor to the clay pigeons we know today. The cast iron launcher is complete and functional, missing only the turning rod (easily replaced). Comes with 8 original, Japanned pressed steel targets. It has the original, strapped wooden carrying box, whose sliding lid still retains a remnant paper label.
